(Air and Space Law) from Leiden University, The Netherlands and is a Solicitor in England & Wales.

Being regulated by the Bar Council of India and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (England & Wales), the firm is ideally placed to advise Clients related to the aviation industry. Further, the Firms position in the India Contact Group of the Aviation Working Group also strengthens its position in the vast but less experienced aviation law service provider market in India.

Traditionally, Sarin & Co. has represented aircraft leasing companies; financial institutions and private individuals in their aircraft leasing / selling / financing transactions in India. Apart from assisting Clients in leasing their assets into India, the Firm has vast experience in assisting Clients in repossessing their assets from India. In a recent bankruptcy of an airline in India, Sarin & Co. assisted an Irish aircraft leasing company repossess 2 ATR aircraft and was in fact, successful in orchestrating India’s quickest de-registration (48 hours) till date. Apart from that the firm also assisted an  American based aircraft leasing company in repossessing two (2) Airbus A320 and two (2) Airbus A321 aircraft, both of which were highly cannibalised by the Lessee. The tasks included assisting the Client in terminating the aircraft lease agreements; applying to the DGCA for de-registration; performing the legal aspects of having a permanent repair crew stationed in New Delhi and Mumbai to repair the cannibalised aircraft; advising on tax matters; advising on customs duty issues; approaching the Delhi High Court and on matters relating to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security; Sarin & Co. is also regularly approached to represent its Clients for Airbus aircraft deliveries at the Airbus Delivery Centre – Toulouse, France.

Further, the firm has successfully assisted foreign lessors and banks in leasing over 55 aircraft (Airbus A320’s & ATR 72-200’s) to Indian lessees and Private Operators. The Firm has also represented a number of India based financial institutions as well as local business houses in the purchase and sale of various business jets. As its pro-bono work, the Firm has been instrumental in working with the Aviation Working Group and the Federation of Indian Airlines in working towards the proper implementation of the Cape Town Convention in India. The Firm also provided the AWG with drafts and its inputs for the already implemented amendment to Rule 30 (7) of the Aircraft Rules and the future short form legislation to implement the Convention in India.
